Xander Bogarts may not be the only Boston player

MLB insider John Hyman says short-haired Xander Bogarts may not be the only player the team moves on at the trade deadline.

The Boston Red Sox are off to a slow start to the 2022 season, sitting behind the New York Yankees 12.0 games for the top spot in the Middle East as of May 21. Trade fluctuations begin, and speculation is rife about whether they will move on from players, specifically from the impending free agents.

Perhaps the most famous name to be on the move is Xander Bogaerts, who opted out after this season and was unable to negotiate a new contract with the Red Sox. It was already Associated with the St. Louis Cardinals.

MLB Insider John Hyman has shortlisted potential candidates for Deadline Trade in His latest article is about New York Post. He included not only Bogarts, but also fellow Bostonians J.D. Martinez and Nathan Evaldi.

MLB Insider lists JD Martinez and Nathan Eovaldi as potential candidates for the trade deadline

Heyman notes that Martinez’s salary is high, but he’s been spending a good year at the board so far. Spotrac says Martinez makes $19.35 million this season before becoming an unrestricted free agent.

In the year Martinez cut .349/.387/.579 while scoring five home runs, 20 RBI and 44 hits. Heyman said Martinez has had a hit streak lately that ended after 18 games.

Next, Heyman lists Eovaldi for being a “big game bowler,” and for being an imminent free agent. With teams needing to boost their courses initially before post-season, the Red Sox could get some coaches.

Eovaldi has a 4.32 ERA and 1,224 WHIP while recording 42 strikes over 41.2 rounds of action (eight starts). However, Eovaldi is leading the league with 14 home games allowed, as of this writing.

It will be interesting to see what happens since there are over two months left until the trade deadline. There is a possibility that the Red Sox could turn things around and get into a post-season feud. If not, these three players might deserve attention once the trading deadline approaches.
